I felt like a rock star when the students greeted me with a rousing welcome as I entered the lecture theatre! For the third year running I was invited to speak to first year students at Sunway Monash. This batch of students were so alive compared to previous years. The University believes in a holistic balanced medical degree programme whereby the future docs are exposed to the real world from the onset. Students get a first hand exposure to disability issues listening to and interacting with disabled persons who are invited to give them an insight into our lives. This year Mary Chen, a visually impaired person who is a also a mother of a learning disabled young adult & i were there. The students have also been assigned in groups to do attachment studies with some disability organisations.
